So why haven't I been online much for the last 6+ months?

In a word...Patience. Not that you should be mind you. Patience is my...wait for it...fiancee. This year has been spent moving me closer to that point. It arrived last week. I am now an engaged human and haven't ever been happier. Life she is good. There has been an enormous amount of stuff that has happened but really it's all far less important than Patience.
